**Job Title:** GKE Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Subject matter expert responsible for designing, deploying, and managing Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) environments that support production workloads and micro‑services architectures across regulated enterprises. Emphasis on automation, security, scalability, and compliance with financial‑services standards.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver secure, highly available container platforms aligned with corporate security policies.
- Automate infrastructure and deployment pipelines to reduce manual effort and configuration drift.
- Ensure continuous compliance with regulatory and audit requirements.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with cloud, networking, security, risk, and development teams.
- Maintain performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of GKE clusters.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, provision, and operate GKE clusters for production and DR environments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins).
- Implement Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform; manage state and versioning.
- Develop automation scripts/tools in Python, Bash, or Go.
- Create and manage Helm charts, Ingress controllers, service meshes, and network policies.
- Conduct security hardening, vulnerability assessments, and audit remediation.
- Document configurations, procedures, and compliance evidence.
- Monitor cluster health (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) and optimize resource utilization.
- Define and test Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans for containerized applications.
- Stay updated on emerging Kubernetes and cloud‑native security threats and best practices.
**Required Skills:**
- 3+ years GCP experience, specifically GKE.
- Strong hands‑on expertise with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and micro‑services design.
- Proficiency building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins).
- Terraform IaC mastery.
- Scripting/programming in Python, Bash, Go (or Java/NodeJS).
- Familiarity with GCP CLI/SDK, REST APIs.
- Deep knowledge of network security, encryption, IAM, PKI, and Kubernetes RBAC.
- Experience with service mesh, Ingress, Network Policies, Certificate Manager.
- Exposure to compliance tools (Google Org Policy, AquaSec, Wiz).
- Monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog.
- OS fundamentals: RHEL, Ubuntu.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Preferred certifications: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), Certified Terraform Associate, or other relevant cloud/security credentials.
