Provide strategic oversight and tactical guidance across data classification, lineage, quality, security and compliance for a 6‑month contract. **Expectations:** * Contract: 6 months, hourly pay equivalent to £500/day, outside IR35. * Hybrid working model – in‑office presence in Glasgow once per week. * Deliver measurable governance efficiencies and regulatory compliance outcomes. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Develop and refine data governance policies, standards and procedures for Azure Data and Microsoft Fabric environments. 2. Establish and enforce data classification, data quality and lineage protocols. 3. Collaborate with data engineering, analytics and security teams to embed governance controls into data pipelines, storage and access layers. 4. Lead the creation and maintenance of a data catalog and metadata repository. 5. Conduct governance audits, risk assessments and remediation plans to meet regulatory and internal compliance requirements. 6. Provide governance training and enablement to data stakeholders and promote a data‑driven culture. 7. Report on governance metrics, progress and SLAs to senior leadership and project sponsors. **Required Skills:** * Proven experience in data governance, data quality, metadata management and data stewardship. * Strong knowledge of Azure Data services (Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Data Factory, etc.). * Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric governance best practices is desirable. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. * Analytical mindset with proficiency in data modeling, documentation and reporting. **Required Education & Credentials:** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Information Systems or related field. * Relevant certifications preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals; Microsoft Certified: Data Engineer Associate; or similar data governance/management credentials.
