Job Title: Site Reliability Engineer – Google Cloud
Role Summary:
Deliver reliability, scalability, and performance for container‑based microservices running on Kubernetes (OpenShift/GKE) and Google Cloud Platform. Design, build, and maintain infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and automation that support cross‑functional development teams and business objectives.
Expectations:
- Mid‑ to senior‑level engineer with 6+ years total IT experience (≥4 years in development).
- Strong multi‑language coding background (Java, Go, Python).
- Proven expertise in Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, and GCP services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, build, and maintain reliable container‑based microservices on OpenShift/GKE.
2. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Tekton or Cloud Build.
3. Create CLI tools, APIs, and scripts for infrastructure and application automation.
4. Manage and scale Kubernetes clusters; handle deployments, upgrades, networking, and storage.
5. Build and secure GCP infrastructure (GCE, GCS, VPC, IAM, GKE, Cloud SQL, etc.) via IaC (Terraform, Deployment Manager).
6. Ensure observability – monitoring, logging, fault tolerance, and performance tuning.
7. Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and performance issues.
8. Promote automation that reduces manual intervention and increases system reliability.
Required Skills:
- Kubernetes & OpenShift: Operators, Routes, SCCs, OAuth, RBAC, CRDs.
- OpenShift GitOps: ArgoCD, Helm, Kustomize.
- Docker: image building, multi‑stage, vulnerability scanning (Clair, Trivy).
- Programming: Java, Go, Python – infrastructure automation, scripting, packaging.
- CI/CD: Tekton, Cloud Build, GitHub Enterprise.
- GCP: IAM, Service Accounts, VPC Service Controls, GKE, Cloud SQL, Artifact Registry.
- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana; experience with service meshes (Istio, Linkerd).
- Strong troubleshooting, proactive problem‑solving, and security best practices.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field).
- Certifications: Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer preferred but not mandatory.
