Job Title: Data Scientist Intern
Role Summary:
Support the Data Science team by building analytical models, extracting insights from large datasets, and developing data pipelines to aid decision‑making across business units.
Expectations:
- Complete internship within a 6‑12 month period.
- Deliver actionable insights and model outputs that align with business priorities.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with analysts, IT, and stakeholders to define requirements and report results.
- Maintain project documentation and communicate progress via ADO or equivalent tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and validate machine learning models and statistical analyses using Python, R, and Spark.
- Build ETL workflows in Spark, Python, Hive, Impala, and SQL to ingest data into GCP Vertex AI Feature Store, Cloudera data lakes, or Salesforce.
- Clean, preprocess, and ensure quality of data before analysis.
- Visualize findings with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools for non‑technical audiences.
- Integrate data with existing warehouses, Salesforce, and other internal systems via MuleSoft or similar ETL scripts.
- Track and report project milestones, adjusting timelines with Agile methodology.
- Conduct research on emerging data science, AI, and machine learning approaches to enhance workflows.
- Mentor junior teammates and promote data‑driven culture within the organization.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation, modeling, and scripting.
- Strong foundation in statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and data modeling techniques.
- Experience with big‑data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Impala) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
- Familiarity with SQL and ETL development in SQL Server, GCP services, or MuleSoft.
- Competence with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
- Analytical mindset, problem‑solving ability, and effective communication skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Current enrollment in a Master’s program (or advanced undergraduate) in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
- No specific certifications required, though knowledge of cloud‑platform certifications (AWS, GCP) is advantageous.
