Job title: SC Cleared Lead Architect – APIs, Kafka, AWS, Leadership
Role Summary: Lead solution architect for a long‑term government project (5 years) delivering cloud‑based API and event‑driven services on AWS. Must possess security clearance (SC) and oversee technical design, procurement, and stakeholder engagement across a large‑scale transformation.
Expectations:
- Hold SC clearance and comply with all security requirements.
- Function as senior technical authority, guiding architecture, design, and delivery.
- Manage cross‑functional stakeholder relationships, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Lead procurement processes for technology and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define enterprise architecture for API layers, Kafka event streaming, and AWS infrastructure.
- Document architectural blueprints, technical specifications, and integration patterns.
- Coordinate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure design feasibility and quality.
- Lead architectural reviews, risk assessments, and decision‑making workshops.
- Provide capacity and cost estimations; support procurement of hardware, software, and services.
- Mentor and coach development teams; maintain technical standards and best practices.
- Serve as primary technical liaison with client stakeholders and senior leaders.
Required Skills:
- Expertise in AWS services (EC2, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, VPC, IAM).
- Advanced knowledge of API architecture (REST/GraphQL, OpenAPI) and design patterns.
- Proficient with Kafka (or similar distributed streaming platforms).
- Strong procurement and vendor management experience.
- Proven stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience leading large‑scale solutions (> $10 M, multi‑team).
- Optional: Development background (Java/Node.js/C#) for deeper technical insight.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional (mandatory).
- Additional certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Master, TOGAF, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer) preferred.
- Valid SC security clearance.
