**Job Title**
R&D Software Engineer/Computer Scientist Intern
**Role Summary**
Support ongoing research and development of electronic, electromagnetic, and high‑power microwave (HPM) systems. Develop and maintain software tools and scripts essential for HPM system design, testing, and analysis within a fast‑moving engineering team.
**Expectations**
- Self‑motivated intern capable of quick learning and independent problem solving.
- US citizenship required; must be able to obtain a security clearance.
- Maintain a minimum 3.2 GPA and possess strong teamwork and communication skills in an R&D environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, code, test, and document software components in Java, C, C++, or Python for HPM projects.
- Apply standard engineering practices: version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development processes.
- Build command‑line utilities and scripts for data acquisition and analysis on Unix‑like systems.
- Collaborate with electrical and RF engineers, setting up experiments with oscilloscopes, function generators, and related lab equipment.
- Participate in code reviews, quality assurance, and iterative product improvement.
- Contribute to knowledge representation, machine learning, or database-related research as needed.
**Required Skills**
- Proficiency in at least one of Java, C, C++, or Python.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD tools, and Agile workflows.
- Comfortable using Unix/Linux terminal commands and scripting.
- Familiarity with machine learning, database theory, formal languages, or algorithms beneficial but not mandatory.
- Ability to operate basic electrical measurement instruments (oscilloscope, function generator, multimeter, power supply).
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
- US citizenship with eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
