Data Science Intern
**Role Summary**
An internship focused on extracting insights from large manufacturing, supply‑chain, and product‑performance datasets. The candidate will collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and manufacturing professionals to develop machine‑learning models, perform exploratory data analysis, and create visualizations that drive operational efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
**Expectations**
- Complete data acquisition, cleaning, and preprocessing of structured and unstructured data.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
- Build and validate machine‑learning models for predictive maintenance, process optimization, demand forecasting, and quality assurance.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations to communicate results to cross‑functional teams.
- Document methodologies, workflows, and results for reproducibility and scalability.
- Present findings in team meetings and contribute to ongoing discussions on manufacturing process improvement.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Retrieve and transform data from manufacturing equipment, IoT sensors, and supply‑chain systems.
- Implement EDA techniques (statistical summaries, visual inspections, correlation analysis).
- Design, train, and evaluate ML models using Python or R libraries (pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Create interactive visualizations and dashboards (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
- Collaborate with senior analysts and engineers to solve manufacturing and operational challenges.
- Maintain clear documentation of data pipelines, analysis procedures, and model artifacts.
**Required Skills**
- Strong programming in Python or R; experience with pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Proficiency with SQL and relational database querying.
- Solid foundation in statistical methods and machine‑learning concepts.
- Effective data‑visualization techniques and tools (Tableau, Power BI).
- Analytical, problem‑solving, and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
**Optional/Acelerator Skills**
- Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Familiarity with manufacturing data platforms (MES, Snowflake).
- Knowledge of IoT frameworks and time‑series sensor data.
- Exposure to Gen AI technologies.
- Prior internship or academic project in manufacturing or industrial analytics.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- No specific certifications required; relevant coursework or project experience valued.
