**Job Title:** Systems Engineering Intern (System Design Engineer Intern)
**Role Summary:**
Support the development of autonomous drone system and subsystem architectures from concept through production. Collaborate with hardware, embedded, software, wireless, and autonomy teams to define specifications, select components, simulate designs, and assist in prototyping and validation of mechanical, electronic, and software subsystems.
**Expectations:**

- Produce clear, data‑driven reports and presentations.
- Demonstrate self‑starting attitude and ability to work in a fast‑paced, interdisciplinary environment.
- Maintain code quality and follow best practices in Python and C/C++ development.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to derive subsystem specifications and develop mechanical, electrical, and embedded software architectures.
- Create and run simulations, quantitative analyses, and design studies for platforms and subsystems.
- Assist in prototype build‑outs and hardware‑software integration testing.
- Translate high‑level architecture requirements into component‑level selections and detailed design documentation.
- Develop and maintain in‑house tools for system characterization, validation, and manufacturing support.
**Required Skills:**
- Proficient in Python and C/C++ programming; ability to write clean, efficient code.
- Experience with embedded systems development (microcontrollers, firmware, real‑time operating systems).
- Strong analytical skills; ability to simulate, quantify, and present technical data.
- Familiarity with system integration involving imaging, ranging, compute, motor control, communications, sensing, or payloads.
- Excellent written communication for reporting analysis and conclusions.
- Ability to work collaboratively across hardware, software, and autonomy disciplines.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, graduate (Master’s), or doctoral (PhD) program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- No specific certifications required; coursework or project experience in embedded systems, control systems, or autonomous robotics is preferred.
