Job Description
Job title: Data Engineer Role Summary: Contract Data Engineer responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines that transform raw behavioural datasets into clean, client‑facing data products. Focus on ETL/ELT processes rather than platform infrastructure, delivering high‑quality datasets for analytics and reporting. Expactations: Deliver end‑to‑end data solutions, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility for business stakeholders. Maintain and optimise pipelines, collaborate with data scientists and product teams, and stay current with best practices in data engineering. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and deploy ETL/ELT workflows that ingest and process large-scale behavioural data • Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and validation to guarantee dataset reliability • Create and maintain data models that support downstream analytics and reporting needs • Optimize pipeline performance and cost efficiency on cloud infrastructure • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to translate business requirements into technical specifications • Document data processes, schema evolution, and pipeline architecture for future maintainability • Ensure compliance with data governance and privacy standards, handling data securely and responsibly Required Skills: • Advanced SQL for complex querying and data manipulation • Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and data transformation • Proven experience constructing data pipelines and datasets using ETL/ELT principles • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and data quality frameworks • Ability to work efficiently with large, high‑volume datasets • Familiarity with AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena) preferred • Problem‑solving mindset and attention to detail Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience) • Optional: Certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty) or data engineering best practices.
