**Job Title:** Senior Software Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Lead backend engineering for a fintech startup focused on regulated stablecoin issuance, custody, and cross‑border transfers. Own and evolve high‑throughput, highly reliable services, design API contracts, and drive cross‑service initiatives that improve product velocity and system resilience.
**Expectations:**
- **30 days:** Ramp up on Rails, CI/CD, observability, and engineering conventions; ship a small feature or quality‑of‑life improvement with tests, dashboards, and runbook documentation.
- **90 days:** Own a service or capability, lead medium‑scope projects (API contract updates, partner integrations, robustness improvements), and become the go‑to expert for that domain.
- **180 days:** Lead cross‑service initiatives (API versioning, data model migrations, compliance workflows), shape technical direction through design docs and mentorship, and deliver multi‑sprint solutions that simplify the system and unlock product velocity.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design and implement stable, evolvable APIs for custody, transfers, and issuance.
- Build idempotent job flows for high‑throughput transfers with strong audit trails.
- Harden key operations using hardware‑backed isolation and robust key policies.
- Improve latency (p95) through query tuning, caching, or backpressure strategies.
- Own service surface, enhance reliability with logging, tracing, alerts, and failure handling.
- Collaborate with product, compliance, and ops to make regulation‑aware tradeoffs.
- Mentor peers, produce design docs, and maintain clear documentation to accelerate onboarding.
**Required Skills:**
- **Languages:** Go, TypeScript/Node.js (Rust optional).
- **Frameworks/Protocols:** gRPC, REST, GraphQL/tRPC.
- **Databases/Queueing:** PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka.
- **Workflow Management:** Temporal.
- **Infrastructure:** AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
- **Observability:** Datadog, Grafana, Sentry, Incident.io.
- **Security:** Nitro Enclaves or equivalent key isolation.
- Strong testing (unit, integration, end‑to‑end), CI/CD pipelines, and documentation practices.
- Experience with high‑availability, distributed systems, and performance tuning.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform (certifications preferred but not mandatory).
