Job title: Sr. Datacenter Engineer
Role Summary: Senior engineer responsible for designing, building, and operating enterprise data center environments in colocation and wholesale settings, overseeing hardware, power, cooling, networking, and storage infrastructure.
Expectations: 7‑10 years of hands‑on data center experience; ability to manage full lifecycle of infrastructure assets; strong vendor coordination and incident resolution skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, construct, and expand power, cooling, networking, storage, and compute infrastructure.
- Install, upgrade, and configure rack PDUs, servers, storage arrays, and network hardware, including firmware and IP settings.
- Utilize DCIM software for asset and power management, ensuring accurate data and reporting.
- Conduct capacity planning for power, space, and cooling to support scalability and reliability.
- Manage hardware lifecycle: procurement, vendor coordination, RMA processes, and asset tracking.
- Maintain documentation, standard operating procedures, and best‑practice guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational incidents, ensuring minimal downtime.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in colocation/wholesale data center operations.
- Deep knowledge of rack PDUs, power systems, cooling, and environmental controls.
- Proficiency with DCIM platforms (asset & power management).
- Hands‑on server, storage, and network hardware installation and configuration.
- Firmware updates, IP configuration, and OS patching expertise.
- Strong capacity and load‑balancing planning skills.
- Vendor management, procurement, and RMA handling.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation abilities.
Required Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Preferred certifications: CCNA, DCIM, CompTIA Server+, or equivalent data‑center‑focused credentials.
