Job Title: Senior Network Engineer (Contract‑to‑Hire)
Role Summary: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure, campus‑wide network infrastructure—including firewalls, routers, switches, and WAN connections—while applying advanced routing protocols and SDN technologies.
Expectations: • 6‑month contract‑to‑hire with full responsibility for network operations • 8+ years professional IT experience, 3+ years BGP/OSPF/EIGRP, 2+ years Cisco ACI, SDN, and virtualization expertise • Proficiency in network automation (Python/Perl, Ansible, Puppet) • Hands‑on experience with network security (firewalls, VPNs, monitoring) • Ability to mentor junior engineers and enforce industry standards.
Key Responsibilities: • Design, configure, and troubleshoot campus‑wide network components (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, WAN) • Manage BGP, OSPF, EIGRP routing and ensure optimal routing performance • Deploy and manage Cisco ACI, SDN, and network virtualization initiatives • Automate network tasks and configurations using Python/Perl and tooling such as Ansible or Puppet • Monitor network health with SolarWinds, AKIPS, or similar platforms • Mentor and coach junior network staff • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams, participate in change windows, and support on‑call rotations.
Required Skills: • Advanced routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) • Cisco ACI, SDN, and network virtualization • Secure network design (firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS) • Network automation (Python/Perl, Ansible, Puppet) • Network monitoring and performance analysis • Capacity planning and scalability assessment • Strong documentation and communication abilities.
Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred) • CCNP Enterprise or equivalent; Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE), CCNP SD-WAN, or similar certifications highly desirable • Demonstrated experience with Cisco ACI, SDN, and network virtualization • Proven proficiency in Python/Perl scripting and automation tools.
