**Job Title:**
Kafka Platform Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Deliver a 6‑month contract with an enterprise platform team, focusing on Confluent Kafka, AWS EKS, and HashiCorp Vault. Design and automate serverless solutions, manage Kafka topics and security, and drive scalability.
**Expectations:**
- 6‑month contract, 3‑day hybrid work (no location constraints)
- Independent, self‑directed teamwork with cross‑functional collaboration
- Deliver automation, security, and performance improvements for Kafka environments
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage Confluent platform (Kafka brokers, schema registry) on AWS EKS
- Create and maintain Kafka topic ACLs, SSO integration, resiliency, and scalability plans
- Implement Azure AD Conditional Access, Kafka/RBAC on schema registry, Azure PIM & JIT access
- Automate account vending machines and security workflows using HashiCorp Vault and KeyVault
- Build serverless applications in Python or Java to support Kafka operations
- Utilize DevSecOps tools: Git, JFrog Artifactory, Jenkins, HashiCorp Terraform, Vault, and Consul
- Monitor system health and troubleshoot performance issues
- Write scripts and configuration code for configuration management and CI/CD pipelines
**Required Skills:**
- 3+ years experience with Apache Kafka and Confluent Platform
- Advanced proficiency with AWS EKS, HashiCorp Vault, Terraform, and Vault automation
- Strong scripting in Python or Java for serverless development
- Kafka topic management: ACLs, SSO, resiliency, scalability
- Experience with Azure AD, Conditional Access, Schema Registry RBAC, Azure PIM / JIT
- DevSecOps expertise: Git, JFrog Artifactory, Jenkins, Terraform, Vault, and other HashiCorp tools
- Ability to design automation for security and operational processes
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Confluent Certified Developer, HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate, AWS Certified Kubernetes – associate level) preferred.
