Job Description
Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, Backend Role Summary: Lead design, development, and operation of scalable, secure microservices and APIs for an e‑commerce and wedding planning platform, enhancing performance, reliability, and growth. Expectations: Deliver high‑quality, testable Java code; mentor teammates; manage full lifecycle from architecture to deployment/monitoring; proactively optimize systems and adopt emerging tech, especially AI, to improve platform. Key Responsibilities: • Design and architect scalable, maintainable backend microservices and RESTful APIs. • Write efficient, production‑ready Java code and maintain AWS deployments. • Collaborate with product managers, front‑end engineers, and stakeholders to define features. • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design discussions. • Own full SDLC: technical design, deployment to AWS, monitoring, and maintenance. • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks; re‑architect for scalability. • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, particularly in AI, into the platform. Required Skills: • 5+ years professional backend development experience. • Deep expertise in Java; proficiency with AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code). • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and RESTful API design. • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL stores (Redis, MongoDB). • Hands‑on AWS experience designing, building, operating production systems. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to explain complex concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. • Pragmatic, analytical problem‑solving mindset. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
