Job Description
**Job Title:** Materials & Recovery Assistant **Role Summary:** Support tissue recovery operations by executing aseptic handling, coordinating inventory, performing instrument cleaning and decontamination, and ensuring compliance with protocols and safety regulations. Operate mobile recovery teams, transport donors, and maintain vendor and partner relationships. **Expactations:** - Adhere strictly to all quality, safety, and regulatory standards. - Maintain accurate records and logs; review new supply orders for quality. - Travel extensively for tissue recovery and vendor coordination. - Facilitate seamless collaboration with hospitals, funeral homes, and regulatory agencies. **Key Responsibilities:** - Perform aseptic recovery of musculoskeletal, skin, and ocular tissues; handle preprocessing steps (culturing, labeling, rinsing, packaging). - Setup and breakdown recovery rooms, assemble and decontaminate instruments and equipment. - Coordinate tissue donation process, including procurement, shipping, storage, and documentation. - Manage inventory of recovery supplies, order needed items, and maintain stockroom organization. - Liaise with vendors for instrument sterilization, repairs, biohazard waste disposal, and scrub services. - Assist in donor transport to recovery sites and in transporting donors from sites, ensuring adherence to protocols. - Conduct safety inspections of incoming orders, maintain accurate logs, and report issues to management. - Perform additional duties as assigned, such as blood draw for infectious disease testing and supporting other staff. **Required Skills:** - Aseptic technique and tissue handling proficiency. - Inventory and supply‑chain management. - Vendor coordination and procurement. - Knowledge of safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements. - Strong communication and teamwork abilities. - Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). - Willingness and capability to travel frequently. **Required Education & Certifications:** - High School Diploma or equivalent. - Prior experience in an allied health role (e.g., EMT, ORT, CST, SA, ST, or tissue banking). - Valid driver’s license; able to meet MVR underwriting requirements. - Ability to obtain required hospital badge and EMR access from partner facilities.
