Job Description
Job title: Quality Engineer Role Summary: Design and implement robust inspection processes for new vehicle introductions and series production. Develop Inspection Control Plans (ICPs), translate them into SAP inspection structures, and define metrology methods to ensure product quality and safety. Expactations: Expertise in engineering drawing interpretation, GD&T, and measurement strategy. Proven ability to craft ICPs, configure SAP (MM02, QP01/QP02, QDL1), and validate inspection feasibility for critical characteristics. Strong communication with design, metrology, and supplier teams. Experience in automotive or related high‑precision industries. Valid UK driving licence and ready to work UK‑based shifts. Key Responsibilities: - Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T to define measurement requirements. - Create detailed Inspection Control Plans and implement them in SAP. - Select appropriate measurement methods (CMM, hand tools, gauges, fixtures, functional checks). - Identify and specify fixtures, holding devices, or specialized metrology equipment. - Verify inspection feasibility for CTQ, SC, CC, and safety‑critical items. - Provide design feedback to improve drawing clarity and measurability. - Support inspection readiness from prototype through pre‑production to series builds. Required Skills: - Advanced reading of technical drawings and GD&T interpretation. - SAP experience with MM02, QP01/QP02, and QDL1. - Solid metrology knowledge and hands‑on experience with CMM or traditional tools. - Planning and specification of gauges, checking fixtures, and bespoke inspection tooling. - Strong written and verbal communication across engineering, metrology, and supplier quality functions. - Preference for automotive, motorcycle, or aerospace quality engineering background. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. - Industry certifications in quality engineering or metrology (e.g., ASQ CQE, CMM certification) preferred. - Valid UK driving licence.
