**Job Title**
MFT Engineer
**Role Summary**
Design, implement, and maintain Managed File Transfer (MFT) solutions using IBM Sterling products. Provide continuous support, monitor system health, troubleshoot incidents, and drive process improvements while ensuring compliance, security, and high availability.
**Expectations**
- Work rotating shifts and deliver on‑call support.
- Own incident resolution, root cause analysis, and preventive actions.
- Collaborate across teams, mentor teammates, and share knowledge.
- Maintain documentation, knowledge bases, and best‑practice guides.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Install, configure, upgrade, and administer IBM Sterling File Gateway, Sterling Connect:Direct (Unix/Windows), Sterling Secure Proxy, and related components.
- Monitor application servers, tune performance, and troubleshoot L2/L3 issues.
- Conduct crisis calls for service recovery, MIRs, and SIPs; coordinate incident resolution and post‑mortem analysis.
- Identify audit, compliance, and security risks; implement mitigation strategies.
- Develop and maintain automated processes, scripts, and knowledge base articles.
- Participate in POCs, technology reviews, and emerging‑technology discussions.
- Mentor new hires and provide technical guidance for process and competency development.
**Required Skills**
- Deep knowledge of file‑transfer protocols: sFTP, AS2, Connect:Direct, FTPS, HTTPS.
- Experience with IBM Sterling suite (File Gateway, Connect:Direct, Secure Proxy, External Authentication Server).
- Cryptography and key management: SSL/TLS, SSH, PGP/GPG.
- System monitoring, performance tuning, and incident management (L2/L3).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and RCA abilities.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes: Change, Incident, Problem.
- Understanding of operating systems (Unix/Linux, Windows), networking, security, and RDBMS.
- Exposure to cloud technologies and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Excellent written and verbal communication; teamwork and mentoring skills.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- IBM Sterling certifications or equivalent preferred (e.g., IBM Sterling Connect:Direct, IBM Sterling File Gateway).
- Demonstrated experience in enterprise MFT environments.
