Job Description
**Job title**: Cloud Architect **Role Summary**: Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable cloud solutions on AWS (Public Cloud & GovCloud) and Azure. Lead automation, DevOps practices, and multi‑account governance (Control Tower, stack sets). Ensure compliance with FedRAMP and other security standards in a federal environment. **Expectations**: - Deliver enterprise‑level cloud architectures that meet performance, reliability, and security requirements. - Maintain oversight of multi‑region, multi‑account environments and enforce governance policies. - Drive continuous improvement through automation, monitoring, and cost optimization. **Key Responsibilities**: - Architect and implement scalable, fault‑tolerant cloud infrastructures using IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation). - Configure and manage AWS GovCloud, Public Cloud accounts, and Azure subscriptions; set up Control Tower and stack sets. - Build and maintain deployment pipelines (Packer, CI/CD) and automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle. - Implement security controls (IAM, VPC, network segmentation, encryption) in line with FedRAMP requirements. - Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resources for cost efficiency. - Document architecture designs, operational procedures, and compliance evidence. **Required Skills**: - 12+ years IT experience; 8+ years hands‑on cloud engineering (AWS and/or Azure). - Deep knowledge of FedRAMP, secure deployment best practices, and federal IT compliance. - Proficient in AWS GovCloud & Public Cloud multi‑region management; Azure experience optional. - Expertise with AWS Control Tower, stack sets, and multi‑account governance. - Strong foundation in Linux and Windows system administration and troubleshooting. - Proficiency in IaC tools: Terraform, CloudFormation; image tooling: Packer. - Scripting: PowerShell, Python; proficient with AWS CLI/Console (IAM, VPC, ELB, etc.). **Required Education & Certifications**: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (mandatory); Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent is a plus. - FedRAMP, CMMC, or other federal security certifications highly desirable.
