About the Company

Phaidra deploys artificial intelligence virtual plant operators to assist operations teams in mission critical facilities deliver step function improvements in stability, energy efficiency and sustainability. We create self-learning, intelligent control systems for industrial facilities. Our co-founders and leadership team represent the combination of deep artificial intelligence and machine learning expertise from companies like Google-Deepmind, with the applied knowledge of mission critical cooling and heating systems from organizations like Trane and Johnson Controls. The industrial sector today is filled with static infrastructure. Pharmaceutical production, data centers, district energy and other industrial facilities are frozen in time -- they operate in the same way they've operated for years because their control systems are hard-coded, and hard-coded systems cannot change dynamically, leading to performance degradation and a lack of resiliency. Our AI-powered control systems automatically learn, adapt, and get better over time. Our team has already delivered 40% energy savings at Google's data centers, and we're rapidly bringing AI technology to other types of industrial facilities.

Senior Data Scientist (Power Systems)
Job Description
Job title: Senior Data Scientist (Power Systems) Role Summary: Lead the development and deployment of AI-driven solutions to monitor and optimize electrical systems in data centers. Translate sensor telemetry into actionable insights, build anomaly detection models, and collaborate with operations teams to enhance reliability and efficiency. Expectations: • Deliver end-to-end data science projects focused on power system analysis. • Communicate complex technical findings to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. • Maintain high code quality, reproducibility, and robust model performance in production environments. • Mentor junior team members and share domain expertise through documentation and knowledge‑base contributions. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement an electricity system ontology for data‑center assets to enable AI/LLM integration. • Build and maintain real‑time telemetry pipelines from sensors, smart meters, and facility management systems. • Develop advanced anomaly detection models (ML/statistics) for power usage, voltage, cooling, UPS/battery performance, and more. • Create automated alerting frameworks that trigger real‑time notifications for operational response. • Conduct root‑cause analysis of anomalies and incidents, correlating multi‑domain data to improve reliability. • Translate anomaly insights into maintenance and optimization recommendations to reduce downtime and improve PUE. • Expand the organization’s knowledge base on data‑center electrical systems through open sharing. Required Skills: • 3+ years experience in power or electrical systems operations, especially data centers. • Strong background in power quality, load balancing, redundancy, harmonics, fault detection, and protective relaying. • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data‑engineering tools; experience with ML frameworks (scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch). • Expertise in anomaly detection, statistical analysis, and time‑series modeling. • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and in a fully remote, cross‑functional team. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Energy Systems, Data Center Operations, or a related technical field (equivalent experience acceptable). • Relevant certifications in power engineering or data science (e.g., PEMA, IEEE, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer) are a plus.
