Job Description
**Job Title:** Project Planner / Planning Engineer **Role Summary:** Develop, maintain, and report detailed Primavera P6 project programmes for water‑sector projects across the Severn Trent region. Provide critical path analysis, performance monitoring, and risk mitigation support to Project Managers and teams, and lead planning presentations at progress reviews. **Expectations:** - Deliver accurate baseline programmes that align with project objectives. - Monitor schedule performance, identify deviations and early warning issues, and recommend corrective actions. - Facilitate effective communication between project management, contractors, and stakeholders. - Travel to project sites and the regional office as required to support on‑site teams. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Build, update, amend, and report P6 programmes for design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover stages. 2. Collaborate with Senior Planners and Project Managers to ensure program accuracy and baseline integrity. 3. Conduct critical path analysis and risk identification to minimise project exposure. 4. Produce integrated programme of work and monitor progress against plan, flagging performance gaps. 5. Deliver planning sections at project progress review meetings and present findings to stakeholders. 6. Support project‑level reporting to enhance business planning intelligence. 7. Mentor junior planners and contribute to team development initiatives. **Required Skills:** - Proficient with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project. - Demonstrated project planning experience on projects of varying size and complexity. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication, with capability to present to technical and non‑technical audiences. - Basic understanding of NEC contracts and their planning requirements. - Relevant professional qualification in project planning or management. - Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and regional office. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Minimum of a professional qualification relevant to planning (e.g., Project Management Professional, Prince2, or equivalent). - Degree in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
