Job title: 4th Class Operating Engineer (Temporary Full‑time)
Role Summary:
Operates and maintains mechanical plant equipment—cogeneration, boiler, refrigeration, generators, pumps, compressors—to ensure continuous, efficient hospital operations. Performs monitoring, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and documentation in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Expectations:
- Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of all mechanical assets.
- Initiate and control start‑up/shutdown sequences, load balancing, and system coordination.
- Detect, analyze, and correct equipment malfunctions to prevent downtime.
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Respond promptly to alarms and operational emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate automated control systems and auxiliary equipment (cogeneration, boiler, refrigeration, generators, pumps, compressors).
- Regulate power plant operations: start‑up, shut‑down, voltage, frequency, load distribution, and water levels.
- Inspect and monitor equipment, instruments, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, and meters for performance and leak detection.
- Analyze instrument readings; record data and investigate equipment malfunctions.
- Execute corrective actions and minor repairs to avert failures.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on mechanical equipment using appropriate tools.
- Log daily maintenance, safety, and operating activities; draft operation and non‑compliance reports.
- Conduct routine mechanical equipment rounds to ensure continued efficiency.
- Respond to trouble calls, alarms, and build‑out maintenance requests in a timely manner.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting mechanical plant equipment (generators, boilers, compressors, pumps, refrigeration systems).
- Ability to read and interpret technical data (temperature, pressure, fuel flow, electrical parameters).
- Diagnostic skills for identifying leaks and malfunctions; performing minor repairs.
- Familiarity with automated control systems and energy management.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and compliance with safety standards.
- Effective communication with systems operators and maintenance crews.
- Capability to work independently, manage shift schedules, and respond to emergencies.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience operating mechanical plant equipment in a healthcare or industrial setting.
- Technical training/qualification in industrial plant operations, electrical or mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Valid H2S‑safe (if applicable) and electrical (1st‑class) safety certificates.
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
