Job title: Enterprise SAN Team Member – Information Technology Generalist Administrator 1
Role Summary:
Support and manage enterprise‑class SAN infrastructure, providing design, implementation, operation, and lifecycle management of SAN switching and storage capacity. Act as backup to the SAN Team Lead, ensuring adherence to change, incident, and inventory management standards while collaborating with server, networking, database, and virtualization teams.
Expectations:
- Serve as primary operational technician for enterprise SAN services.
- Maintain high availability and performance of storage systems.
- Develop monitoring dashboards and key performance indicators for the SAN environment.
- Participate in cross‑functional teams to ensure system compatibility and project alignment.
- Provide on‑call support and respond to incidents per established procedures.
- Support change and configuration management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and tune SAN switching and storage capacity to meet business demand.
- Monitor SAN health and performance; identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
- Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and documentation for operational visibility.
- Collaborate with server, networking, database, and virtualization leads on configuration and integration.
- Enforce enterprise change, incident, and inventory management standards.
- Perform regular capacity planning, performance tuning, and upgrade activities.
- Assist the SAN Team Lead in strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of SAN technologies, including fibre channel or infiniband switching.
- Experience in storage area network design, implementation, and operations.
- Strong understanding of server, networking, database, and virtualization architectures.
- Proficiency in incident, change, and inventory management processes.
- Ability to develop and interpret monitoring dashboards and performance metrics.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline **or** equivalent experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT acceptable; preferred if combined with practical experience.
- Certifications such as Dell EMC, NetApp, or VMware storage solutions **advantageous** but not mandatory.
- Minimum of one year in an IT generalist role **or** equivalent combination of education and experience.
