Job Description

**Job Title:** Java Software Engineer (Maternity Cover) **Role Summary:** Develop, enhance, and support globally distributed software solutions using Java, providing end‑to‑end application development and architectural contributions in an Agile environment. **Expectations:** - Deliver high‑quality Java applications and front‑end components. - Design architecture and prototype new features. - Collaborate with product owners, QA, and localization teams. - Resolve defects and maintain production stability. **Key Responsibilities:** - Write, maintain, and test Java, HTML, and CSS code. - Design and implement REST APIs, integrate with PostgreSQL, Azure SQL, and Cosmos DB. - Create proof‑of‑concepts to evaluate new functionality. - Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings. - Support localisation, documentation, and quality‑assurance testing. - Identify, investigate, and fix bugs in production and test environments. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including frontend developers, DevOps, and system architects. **Required Skills:** - 5–7 years of Java development experience. - Proficiency with PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and Azure cloud services. - Strong front‑end skills in HTML, CSS; Angular experience is desirable. - Familiarity with Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and related cloud data services. - Solid understanding of OOP and design patterns (MVC, Singleton, Factory). - Experience with Git, Agile methodologies, and continuous integration/deployment. - Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a distributed team. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. - No specific certifications required.
