Job Description
Job title: Authorised Person Role Summary: Responsible for ensuring safe operation of electrical works on construction sites. Enforces company and regulatory safety procedures, authorises energisation and isolation of electrical systems, conducts commissioning tasks, and maintains accurate documentation. Expectations: - Maintain strict compliance with SOPs, Permit to Work, LOTO, and site‑specific safety systems. - Authorise safely energised switchgear and switch panels only after meeting all safety checks. - Report incidents, complete audits, and assist in training and certification processes. - Coordinate with Senior Authorised Persons, SAP, and Energy Marshall to uphold safety standards. Key Responsibilities: - Review, approve, and enforce Control of Hazardous Energies (COHE) procedures and Sub‑Contractor COHE and RAMS. - Operate LOTO systems and manage safe switching during commissioning. - Conduct hazard identification, mitigation, and area segregation. - Ensure PPE usage, warning signage, and hazardous area segregation. - Perform inspections, pre‑energisation checklists, live and dead testing, insulation, and grounding tests. - Authorise energisation and isolation requests following criteria. - Provide evidence of colour vision test when required. - Assist with internal audits (Self‑Assessment COHE, temporary electrics). - Maintain accurate documentation: punchlists, as‑built drawings, vendor manuals, and energisation request forms. Required Skills: - Qualified electrician with National Craft Certificate or equivalent Level 6+ qualification. - Knowledge of electrical regulations (EN, local codes) and arc‑flash mitigation. - Ability to interpret project drawings (SLDs, wiring diagrams, schematics). - Proficiency in commissioning electrical equipment (MCCs, VSDs, panels, motors, lighting). - Competent in testing equipment (insulation resistance, point‑to‑point, live‑dead‑live). - Strong organisational skills: documentation, audit support, and safety compliance. Required Education & Certifications: - National Craft Certificate in Electrical or equivalent Level 6+ qualification, verified by Naric. - Relevant local jurisdiction course in Verification, Testing and Certification (if required). - Successful completion of safety training (Hazardous Energies, LOTO, ESOW). - Colour vision test validity if mandated.
