Job Title: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer
Role Summary:
Design, develop, deploy, and maintain AI/ML solutions to automate and optimize operations across an electric cooperative and its member cooperatives. Serve as the subject‑matter expert, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and effective stakeholder communication.
Expectations:
- Deliver high‑quality AI/ML systems that enhance operational efficiency and reduce risk.
- Maintain continuous competency in emerging AI technologies (generative AI, NLP, deep learning).
- Meet project deadlines while managing complex data sets and stakeholder demands.
- Uphold compliance with security and industry standards (e.g., NERC CIP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, administer, and monitor AI/ML systems, including data pipelines and model deployment.
- Develop and validate predictive models for maintenance, load forecasting, and other business needs.
- Analyze large data sets, produce actionable insights, and present findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Prototype and evaluate new AI technologies to improve workflows and mitigate risks.
- Write clean, maintainable code (Python, SQL, etc.) for AI and automation solutions.
- Train and evaluate AI models to ensure accuracy and mitigate hallucinations.
- Maintain documentation, system performance metrics, and regulatory compliance records.
- Conduct AI/ML training sessions for organizational staff and partner cooperatives.
- Cultivate relationships with academic AI/ML programs to support talent pipelines.
Required Skills:
- 3–5 years of AI/ML development or data‑analysis experience.
- Proficiency in model development (supervised, unsupervised, NLP, deep learning).
- Strong programming skills (Python, R, SQL, TensorFlow/PyTorch).
- Experience with data engineering, feature engineering, and model deployment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with regulatory and security standards relevant to the energy sector.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and demonstrate continuous learning.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative science, engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Proven track record in AI/ML or advanced data‑analysis roles.
- (Optional) Certifications in AI/ML (e.g., TensorFlow Developer, AWS Certified Machine Learning) or security standards (e.g., NERC CIP) are desired.
