**Job Title:** System Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Contract-to-hire System Engineer responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise IT infrastructure, including multi‑site WAN, servers, networking equipment, cloud environments, and security solutions. Provides technical oversight, automation, and continuous improvement to ensure high availability and compliance with SLAs.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver infrastructure projects on schedule and within budget.
- Maintain 99.9% uptime for servers, applications, and data.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, backup procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide timely documentation, incident resolution, and escalation as needed.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and document system architecture, processes, and best practices.
- Plan, implement, expand, and troubleshoot multi‑site WAN and related networking gear.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain server hardware, operating systems, and networking equipment.
- Deploy cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure‑as‑Code or CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor batch jobs, logs, and system metrics for accuracy and errors.
- Perform critical data backups and secure data according to established procedures.
- Apply firmware, security patches, and updates to servers, printers, and networking devices.
- Manage SLAs for server, application, and data availability.
- Configure and administer Microsoft Active Directory and related identity services.
- Deploy and maintain security solutions (IPS/IDS, firewalls, AV, anti‑spam, anti‑malware).
- Oversee Unified Communications, VoIP, and related platforms.
- Maintain data redundancy, perform remediation from test findings, and risk assessments.
- Administer SharePoint storage management, access controls, and security.
- Provide remote access solutions for clients.
- Log and resolve hardware/software issues for computers, terminals, and printers.
- Install software upgrades, create automation scripts, and support routine maintenance.
- Prepare system specifications, standards, and programming for new solutions.
- Conduct systems analysis, recommend policy changes, and implement continuous improvements.
- Source, license, and evaluate software from vendors; recommend and approve purchases.
**Required Skills:**
- System architecture design and documentation.
- WAN/LAN design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Server and network hardware installation and configuration (Windows/Linux).
- Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and IaC (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation).
- Scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Monitoring tools (Splunk, Nagios, Zabbix).
- Backup solutions (Veeam, Azure Backup, etc.).
- Security technologies (IPS/IDS, firewalls, AV, anti‑spam, anti‑malware).
- Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management.
- Unified Communications/VoIP administration.
- SharePoint administration.
- Strong problem‑solving, documentation, and communication abilities.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications preferred:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent.
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP (Networking).
- CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA Security, or equivalent.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or equivalent.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent.
