**Job title**
Security Engineering Intern
**Role Summary**
Provide hands‑on support to the Security Operations team, monitoring real‑time alerts, investigating incidents, and assisting with tool tuning, automation, and cloud security within an AWS hybrid environment.
**Expectations**
- Participate in daily SecOps tasks, on‑call rotations, and incident response exercises.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (IT, Engineering, Network, Security Architecture).
- Contribute to process improvements through scripting and automation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Monitor and investigate security alerts using XDR, SIEM, endpoint detection, and cloud security tools.
- Tune and maintain security alerts and incident response playbooks.
- Assist with vulnerability scanning, remediation, and security tool management.
- Support AWS infrastructure security (Route 53, Direct Connect, WAF, CloudWatch, Config) and hybrid cloud environments.
- Implement and manage automation scripts (Python, PowerShell) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Document procedures, share knowledge, and support team communication.
**Required Skills**
- Basic scripting in Python or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and DevOps practices.
- Understanding of security concepts (XDR, SIEM, vulnerability scanning, incident response).
- Exposure to AWS services and security controls.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Currently pursuing a degree in a technical or business discipline.
- Preferred: Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, GSEC, or CISSP (planned).
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, NIST 800‑53, SOC I).
