Job title: Data Protection Engineer Role Summary: Senior engineer responsible for designing, deploying, and managing data protection and DLP solutions across enterprise environments, primarily using Microsoft Purview and Zscaler. Leads strategic initiatives, collaborates with senior stakeholders, and drives compliance with regulatory frameworks. Expactations: Deliver end‑to‑end DLP strategy implementation, maintain policy effectiveness, and provide actionable insights to executive leadership. Independent decision‑making, proactive project ownership, and clear communication with C‑level stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: - Lead design and deployment of comprehensive DLP strategy with Microsoft Purview and Zscaler. - Develop scalable data classification, labeling, and protection architectures. - Configure DLP policies, sensitivity labels, and retention rules in Microsoft 365 and Purview. - Set up Zscaler DLP policies to block exfiltration and monitor traffic for leaks. - Integrate cloud and legacy data sources using PowerShell, Graph API, and automation tools. - Create dashboards, reports, and metrics to monitor policy effectiveness and incident trends. - Act as trusted advisor to senior leadership, delivering recommendations on data protection initiatives. - Manage project scope, timelines, and communication with cross‑functional teams. Required Skills: - Deep expertise in Microsoft Purview and DLP solution deployment. - Strong familiarity with Zscaler DLP policies and network security controls. - Proficiency in PowerShell scripting, Graph API integration, and automation frameworks. - Knowledge of data classification, labeling, and retention best practices. - Experience with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, SEC, or FINRA. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including presentation to C‑level executives. - Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and drive continuous improvement. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field. - (Optional) Relevant certifications in Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance, Microsoft Purview, or Zscaler.
