Job Description
Job title: Bioinformatics Research Engineer – Genomics & Computational Biology (F/H) Role Summary: Design, develop, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for phage and bacterial genomics; conduct inferential statistics and machine‑learning modeling; integrate experimental data with computational workflows. Expectations: Deliver reproducible, well‑documented analyses; support scientific reporting and result dissemination; collaborate effectively with experimental teams. Key Responsibilities: - Build and optimise workflows for genome assembly, annotation, receptor and defense system detection, typing, and comparative analysis. - Perform inferential statistical analyses on complex datasets. - Develop machine‑learning models (random forest, regression, XGBoost). - Ensure reproducibility, documentation, and traceability of all analyses. - Structure, document, and perform quality control of datasets. - Integrate data from plaque assays and growth‑curve experiments; contribute to experimental method design. - Assist in preparing scientific reports and result presentations. Required Skills: - Proficient in Python and/or R. - Comfortable with Bash/Linux command line. - Experienced with standard bioinformatics tools (assembly, annotation, comparative genomics). - Strong statistical foundation; knowledge of machine‑learning techniques. - Meticulous, autonomous, and highly organized. - Scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and collaborative mindset. Required Education & Certifications: - Master’s (M2) or engineering degree in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Biostatistics, Computational Microbiology, or related field.
