Job Description
Job Title: DevOps Engineer Role Summary: Engineer and maintain automated build, deployment, and monitoring pipelines for a high‑availability VA claims adjudication system. Ensure secure, zero‑downtime releases of API services, Dynamics components, and VA.gov integrations across cloud environments. Expectations: • Obtain & maintain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust clearance. • Reside in the United States and have lived there for ≥3 of the last 5 years. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Key Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Travel Pay API, Claim Ingest API, and associated services. • Securely configure cloud environments and network components, enforcing encryption, logging, and ATO‑aligned controls. • Integrate and manage monitoring tools to track API performance, latency, and error rates. • Troubleshoot deployment failures, infrastructure issues, and cross‑system connectivity. • Implement no‑downtime deployment strategies in partnership with development teams. • Integrate automated testing frameworks into CI/CD pipelines. • Participate in on‑call rotations for critical infrastructure events. Required Skills: • Experience with backend service development in modern programming languages. • Proficiency in RESTful APIs, asynchronous processing, and microservices architecture. • Strong knowledge of cloud deployment patterns (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Helm). • Expertise in CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.). • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, New Relic, etc.). • Deep understanding of security best practices, encryption, logging, IPv6, and compliance frameworks such as TIC 3.0 and ATO. • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and collaborative skills. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. • U.S. Federal Position of Trust clearance (achievable through background check).
