**Job Title**: Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2026)
**Role Summary**:
University students build scalable, mission‑critical components for Okta’s identity platform in a fast‑paced, agile environment. The internship includes end‑to‑end development, test‑driven design, and cross‑functional collaboration.
**Expectations**:
- 12‑week internship, full‑time commitment.
- Own feature implementation and production release.
- Rapid learning curve; apply knowledge to real production systems.
- Iterate weekly within a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Scope and plan engineering tasks with manager and mentor.
2. Design, implement, and test high‑performance, scalable software components.
3. Write unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests (TDD).
4. Conduct and participate in code reviews.
5. Collaborate with QA, product management, UX, and support teams.
6. Integrate AWS services (Lambda, EC2, Fargate, CloudWatch, SQS, SNS, SES).
7. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
8. Document design decisions and user‑facing changes.
9. Attend agile ceremonies (stand‑ups, retrospectives, sprint planning).
10. Provide solutions that improve reliability, scalability, and user experience.
11. Reduce barriers for customers transitioning to the cloud.
12. Mentor and guide junior interns when applicable.
**Required Skills**:
- Proficient in at least one object‑oriented language: Java, C#, Go, Node.js, C++, or Python.
- Basic JavaScript knowledge.
- Experience with web frameworks, relational databases, and application servers.
- Familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, EC2, Fargate, CloudWatch, SQS, SNS, SES) is a strong plus.
- Test‑driven development mindset; experience with unit and integration testing.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
- Familiarity with agile development practices.
**Required Education & Certifications**:
- Current enrollment in a B.S. or M.S. Computer Science or related degree program.
- Expected graduation May/June 2027.
- Prior summer internship experience preferred.
- No specific certifications required.
