Job Title: Infrastructure Project Manager (GIS Expertise)
Role Summary: Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex IT and infrastructure projects that integrate spatial data solutions. Coordinate cross‑functional teams of infrastructure engineers, GIS specialists, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and transition secure, high‑performance GIS environments aligned with business objectives.
Expectations: • 6‑month, outside IR35 contract • Minimum 5 years of infrastructure project management in enterprise or public‑sector contexts • Proven experience managing GIS‑enabled projects (Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, GeoServer, FME, etc.) • Strong technical background in servers, networks, storage, virtualization, and cloud (Azure/AWS) • Familiarity with spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, Oracle Spatial) • Budget, vendor, and multi‑disciplinary team management • Knowledge of ITIL, Prince2, or Agile PM frameworks • Excellent stakeholder communication, documentation, and governance adherence (ISO 27001, GDPR).
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and close GIS‑centric infrastructure projects from initiation to post‑implementation review.
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, risk registers, and change logs.
- Coordinate internal and external resources, including vendors, consultants, and service providers.
- Ensure project deliverables meet scope, timeline, budget, and quality criteria.
- Oversee design and implementation of network, server, and storage environments supporting GIS platforms.
- Collaborate with GIS analysts and data engineers to achieve scalability, performance, and data integrity.
- Maintain compliance with IT governance, cybersecurity, and data protection policies.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Manage stakeholder communication, status reporting, and escalation processes.
- Support system upgrades, migrations, and integration with enterprise systems (ERP, asset management, field service tools).
Required Skills:
- Advanced project management (5+ years) with a track record of on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
- Expertise in GIS technologies (Esri ArcGIS, ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS, GeoServer, FME).
- In‑depth knowledge of infrastructure components: servers, networks, storage, virtualization, and cloud (Azure/AWS).
- Experience with spatial databases and data integration workflows.
- Proven vendor, budget, and multi‑disciplinary team management.
- Familiarity with ITIL, Prince2, or Agile methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and documentation abilities.
- Understanding of information security, data governance, and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR).
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent).
- ITIL or Agile Scrum certification (optional but preferred).
- GIS‑related certification (Esri ArcGIS Professional, QGIS Certified Specialist, etc.) is an asset.
