**Job Title**
Intern, Ignition – Data & Analytics
**Role Summary**
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to analyze business challenges, gather and process complex data sets, and support the implementation of technology-driven solutions within KPMG’s Ignition practice.
**Expectations**
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Accounting, Tax, Business Analytics, Data & Analytics, Economics, Finance, MIS, Statistics or equivalent.
- Must meet a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Successfully complete academic credits toward degree or CPA eligibility during the internship.
- Willing and able to commute to a KPMG office and travel to client sites on short notice.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Identify and articulate client business challenges and data/information requirements for tax processes.
- Assist in recommending and designing technology‑driven improvements, including ERP, low‑code/no‑code, generative AI, and tax applications.
- Extract, load, normalize, aggregate, and validate complex data sets from diverse source systems and file types.
- Participate in proof‑of‑concepts, workshops, hackathons, and vendor evaluations; prepare analytical reports and documentation using Word, Visio, PowerPoint and related tools.
- Support project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables in a collaborative environment with clients, member firms, and teammates.
**Required Skills**
- Strong technical aptitude and critical‑thinking/problem‑solving ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook); basic knowledge of at least one data/analytics technology such as Excel VBA, Power Query/Pivot, Alteryx, Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, R, Python, SQL Server, SAP, Oracle, ONESOURCE, Corptax, Longview, or generative AI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and teamwork skills; adaptable, resourceful, and detail‑oriented.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Accounting, Tax, Business Analytics, Data & Analytics, Economics, Finance, MIS, Statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Completion of academic credits toward degree or CPA eligibility during internship.
- No additional certifications required; familiarity with tax software and data tools is preferred.
