**Job Title:** Business Analyst, Finance Analytics
**Role Summary:**
Analyzes and narrates financial metrics for a two‑sided marketplace, identifying drivers of performance changes and delivering data‑driven insights to senior leadership and finance stakeholders. Acts as the subject‑matter expert on payments and finance data, builds and monitors key metrics, and partners with accounting, tax, product, and engineering teams to improve reporting and automation.
**Expectations:**
- Minimum 3 + years of professional experience in analytics with a focus on finance.
- Ability to work hybrid in the Greater Seattle area (on‑site Mondays and Thursdays).
- Strong communication skills for presenting findings to technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior executives.
- Proactive, collaborative mindset; willingness to support cross‑functional teammates.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Become expert on finance‑related database queries, cohort modeling, and third‑party vendor data.
- Monitor existing financial metrics and develop new metrics that drive business impact.
- Decompose metric fluctuations, root‑cause analyses, and present actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Provide insights, narratives, and automation support to finance, accounting, and tax teams.
- Partner with product, accounting, tax, and data‑engineering teams to adapt reporting for new features, business lines, or regulatory changes.
- Support teammates and cross‑functional partners as needed with a flexible, collaborative approach.
**Required Skills:**
- Proficient SQL for complex data extraction and analysis.
- Experience with data‑visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI).
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to craft clear data stories for diverse audiences.
- Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles, including financial statements.
- Demonstrated ability to perform root‑cause analysis and develop actionable insights.
- Experience collaborating with multi‑functional teams and data‑engineering partners.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, or data‑analytics certificates) are optional but advantageous.
