Job Description
Job Title: Chef Manager II – Private School Role Summary: Lead culinary operations for a private school dining program, overseeing menu development, food production, staff training, purchasing, budgeting, and catering events. Ensure compliance with food safety, allergen control, and sanitation standards while delivering high‑quality, nutritious meals. Expectations: - Deliver consistent, creative menus that meet nutritional and budgetary goals. - Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment and comply with all safety regulations. - Manage personnel, budgets, and inventory with accountability and transparency. - Support special events and instructional opportunities as required. Key Responsibilities: - Directly prepare food and supervise ≥2 full‑time kitchen staff. - Provide leadership, training, and oversight for all culinary operations. - Conduct weekly purchasing, monthly inventory management, and accurate cash handling. - Establish presentation standards, menu pricing, and quality benchmarks. - Ensure proper equipment operation, maintenance, and sanitation. - Oversee special catering events and culinary demonstrations. - Maintain budgeted food and labor costs, place orders, and produce weekly/monthly reports. Required Skills: - Culinary expertise in menu planning, preparation, and safe food storage. - Knowledge of food safety, budgeting, and employee training/development. - Strong time‑management, multitasking, and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent oral, reading, and written communication. - Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move food items. Required Education & Certifications: - Culinary degree or equivalent certification. - 7–9 years of relevant culinary experience. - ServSafe certification and Allergen Awareness certification (required).
