Job Description
Job title: Power Converter Control Engineer – Embedded Systems Role Summary Design, develop, and field‑test control solutions for IGBT or thyristor power converters driving motors. Write algorithms and firmware for embedded platforms (FPGA, DSP, AMD Kria SOM) using C and VHDL, with optional Linux OS and electronics knowledge. Expectations - Minimum 5‑year engineering degree (Electrical/Electronics) with embedded systems and power converter coursework. - Junior candidates motivated and trained in the discipline may be considered. - Strong organization, precision, and hands‑on technical drive for R&D and prototype work. - Ability to travel up to 20 % of the time for customer visits, on‑site commissioning, and supplier meetings. Key Responsibilities - Analyse and select control strategies for IGBT/thyristor converters. - Perform sizing calculations and define protection schemes. - Develop, test, and debug control algorithms in hardware and simulation. - Implement firmware on FPGA/DSP/SOM platforms; write C/VHDL code. - Participate in series‑first testing, commissioning, and trouble‑shooting. - Collaborate with customer sites and cross‑functional project teams. - Attend supplier meetings to review components and integration. Required Skills - Proficient in C and VHDL programming for embedded control. - Experience with FPGA/DSP development and AMD Kria SOM (or equivalent). - Knowledge of power converter control techniques (sine‑wave, PWM, etc.). - Understanding of sizing rules, protection devices, and system reliability. - Familiarity with Linux‑based embedded operating systems (advantage). - Electronics fundamentals and basic circuit design. - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills. - Excellent communication for interfacing with customers and suppliers. Required Education & Certifications - Bachelor’s degree + 5 years (Engineering) in Electrical/Electronics/Electrotechnology with embedded systems and power converter focus. - Relevant certifications (e.g., PLC, FPGA, or embedded systems) are a plus.
