**Job title:** DevOps Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Responsible for designing, operating, and modernising on‑premise and private data‑center infrastructure while supporting a hybrid AWS environment. Ensures reliable CI/CD pipelines, system reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence across legacy and cloud‑based components.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver robust, automated infrastructure and application pipelines.
- Maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and compliance of on‑premise workloads.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with development, QA, operations and security teams.
- Drive continuous improvement of legacy infrastructure using IaC and DevOps best‑practice.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Git workflows).
- Operate and optimise private data‑center assets: networking, virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V), OS, security controls.
- Integrate hybrid infrastructure (on‑prem + AWS), managing IAM, networking, compute, storage.
- Develop IaC (Terraform) and configuration management for on‑prem and hybrid systems.
- Automate monitoring, alerting, logging (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) to guarantee reliability and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues on status‑critical on‑prem systems.
- Implement disaster‑recovery, backup, and high‑availability strategies.
- Advocate DevOps principles and modernisation of legacy infrastructure.
**Required Skills:**
- 5+ years on‑prem/private data‑center experience (critical).
- Expertise in Linux/Windows system administration in traditional server environments.
- Networking, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V).
- Proficiency with IaC (Terraform) and configuration management.
- Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools: TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Bitbucket.
- Strong scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
- Knowledge of security/compliance (GDPR, SOC2, PCI‑DSS).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Preferred certifications: AWS DevOps/Solutions Architect, CKA/CKAD, or relevant security/compliance credentials.
