Job Description
**Job Title** Electrical Engineer (Field – CAN) **Role Summary** Field Electrical Engineer responsible for performing NETA testing, commissioning, and validation of protective relay and power system equipment in data‑center and industrial/commercial sites. Works directly with customers to interpret schematics, develop test and isolation plans, execute functional and primary injection testing, and ensure installed equipment meets project specifications. **Expectations** - Travel statewide in a company vehicle, including remote locations. - Independently assess customer requirements and develop safe isolation procedures. - Execute test plans accurately and deliver high‑quality documentation. - Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to clients and internal teams. - Maintain safety standards around high‑voltage equipment and adhere to drug‑free workplace policies. **Key Responsibilities** - Review wiring diagrams, relay schematics, and customer documentation to define project scope. - Create and implement isolation and livening procedures for protective schemes. - Apply settings and conduct functional testing of microprocessor relays and associated circuitry. - Perform end‑to‑end relay testing, carrier/fiber verification, and primary current injection tests. - Conduct basic power system studies (short‑circuit, arc‑flash, protective device coordination) as needed. - Verify that received and installed equipment conforms to specifications. - Provide on‑site troubleshooting, issue resolution, and improvement recommendations. **Required Skills** - Strong knowledge of power systems, protective relays, and NETA testing procedures. - Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. - Proficiency with test equipment for relay functional and primary injection testing. - Excellent problem‑solving, judgment, and decision‑making abilities. - Effective verbal and written communication in English; customer‑facing competence. - Solid computer skills; SCADA familiarity considered a plus. - Physical ability to climb ladders, lift ≤50 lb, and stand/walk for extended periods. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET‑accredited), focus on Power Systems. - FE or EIT certification preferred. - Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory background check and drug‑free status.
