Job title: Salesforce Lead Application Engineer
Role Summary: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Salesforce Marketing Cloud email and automation solutions. Mentor a small team of application engineers, uphold Agile best practices, and drive technical excellence to deliver personalized, high‑engagement customer journeys.
Expectations:
- Guide a team of 2‑5 engineers through all phases of the product development life cycle.
- Deliver scalable, quality email campaigns and integration solutions that meet business goals and technical standards.
- Maintain agency of performance metrics, email deliverability, and data privacy compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide coaching, performance management, and career development for team members.
- Author and review functional specifications, technical designs, and code for complex Marketing Cloud applications.
- Design, code, debug, unit‑test, and document solutions using AMPscript, SSJS, SQL, HTML, and CSS.
- Oversee REST, SOAP, and WSProxy integrations between Marketing Cloud and external data sources.
- Monitor campaign metrics (conversion, unsubscribe, bounce, IP reputation) and optimize email deliverability.
- Collaborate with product managers to manage resources, scope, timelines, and budgets.
- Advance DevOps processes, continuous integration, and deployment pipelines.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve application performance and developer experience.
Required Skills:
- Leadership experience managing a small development team (2+ years).
- 5+ years in Salesforce Marketing Cloud development within Agile environments.
- Expertise in AMPscript, SSJS, SQL, HTML, CSS, and coding best practices.
- Strong knowledge of REST/SOAP/WSProxy API integration and data privacy regulations.
- Proficiency with email testing tools (Litmus, Email on Acid) and deliverability management.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer Credential or equivalent technical certification is preferred.
