Job Description

**Job Title** Patient Accounts Representative – PFS NW Business Support **Role Summary** Perform daily patient billing operations, including claim editing, insurance verification, and follow‑up of unpaid claims. Ensure timely, accurate submissions and compliance with payer contracts and departmental policies while supporting maximum reimbursement. **Expectations** - Achieve prompt resolution of claim edits and unpaid claims. - Maintain high accuracy and adherence to compliance standards. - Demonstrate independent work ethic and effective teamwork. - Retain knowledge through scheduled competency assessments. **Key Responsibilities** - Edit and submit insurance claims; verify claim accuracy. - Investigate and contact payers, patients, or internal departments to obtain information for unpaid or denied claims. - Identify and resolve issues causing non‑payment; prepare first‑level appeals. - Follow departmental policies and procedures; document activities in Epic or similar system. - Provide timely follow‑up to maximize reimbursement while ensuring compliance. - Perform additional duties as assigned by the Patient Accounts Manager or Supervisor. **Required Skills** - Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). - Familiarity with claim editing, underpayment resolution, and payer contract/reimbursement policies. - Basic knowledge of Epic EHR (preferred). **Required Education & Certifications** - High School diploma or equivalent (required). - Relevant patient billing or medical billing experience (preferred). - No specific certifications required; certification in medical billing/coding is a plus.
