Job Description

**Job Title:** R&D Tax Manager **Role Summary:** Lead the delivery of R&D tax relief claims for a diverse portfolio of clients, managing projects from data gathering to claim submission, while providing commercial advice on innovation incentives and legislative changes. Mentor junior staff and support business development within a collaborative, people‑first environment. **Expectations:** - Deliver high‑quality, timely R&D tax claims for SMEs, PE‑backed firms, and other clients. - Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact. - Drive continuous improvement in service delivery and knowledge of UK R&D tax legislation. - Contribute to firm growth through business development and mentorship. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead end‑to‑end R&D tax relief engagements, ensuring compliance and optimal client outcomes. - Collect, analyse, and assess technical and financial data to determine claim eligibility. - Coordinate internal teams (tax, accounting, technical experts) to meet project deadlines. - Advise clients on planning opportunities, regulatory updates, and strategic use of R&D incentives. - Support proposal writing, pitch activities, and development of new service offerings. - Mentor and train junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative team culture. **Required Skills:** - Strong knowledge of UK R&D tax relief schemes and related legislation. - Ability to interpret complex technical and financial information and communicate it clearly. - Proven project management and client‑facing experience. - Collaborative leadership style with experience guiding junior staff. - Proactive learning attitude and adaptability to legislative changes. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Professional qualification in tax/accounting (e.g., CTA, ACA, ACCA) **or** a STEM background with demonstrable experience in commercial R&D. - Relevant experience in R&D tax advisory or related advisory roles.
