**Job Title**: System Engineer – ERTMS Applications
**Role Summary**
Systems Engineer responsible for analyzing, defining, and developing the architecture and functions of complex railway signalling systems (ERTMS). Works through the entire system development lifecycle, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure requirements, architecture, interfaces, and validation meet safety and performance standards.
**Expectations**
- Deliver system architecture and detailed design that aligns with functional and safety requirements.
- Maintain traceability of requirements and documentation throughout development.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, standardisation, and reuse of solutions.
- Communicate effectively in English with technical teams, stakeholders, and end‑users.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Analyse and clarify internal/external requirements.
2. Produce conceptual designs: system modelling, trade‑off studies, real‑time analysis, mock‑ups.
3. Define and allocate system architecture, interfaces, and component responsibilities.
4. Author and maintain system specifications using formal modelling (SysML, UML, etc.).
5. Ensure full traceability of requirements across documentation and development stages.
6. Coordinate with RAM, safety, cybersecurity, software, verification & validation teams for integration.
7. Lead and participate in technical design reviews, documentation reviews, and expert consultations.
8. Monitor technology trends and support continuous improvement initiatives (ROE, tools, processes).
9. Promote standardisation and re‑use of existing solutions.
10. Support program stakeholders: customers, users, tender teams, and possible international assignments.
**Required Skills**
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- System‑level understanding and basic programming skills.
- Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and autonomous working style.
- Team‑player with proactive communication and perseverance.
- Experience with system modelling tools/languages (UML, SADT, SysML, Matlab).
- Expertise in specification writing and requirement traceability.
- Knowledge of safety‑critical systems (railway, automotive, aerospace).
- Familiarity with both V‑cycle/Waterfall and Agile development models.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Automation, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
- No specific certifications listed, but experience in safety‑critical system standards (e.g., IEC 61508, EN 50128) is a plus.
