Job Description
**Job Title:** Cyber Security Operations Advisor **Role Summary:** Enhance cyber threat detection, analysis, and mitigation by designing and optimizing security solutions, integrating platforms, and supporting incident response. Focus on detection engineering, automation, and fostering team expertise. **Expactations:** - Minimum 2-year diploma in cybersecurity, IT, computer science, engineering, or mathematics + 5 years cybersecurity experience; or equivalent degree + 3 years experience. - Proficiency in detection engineering, data analytics, security platforms (SIEM, endpoint detection, cloud-native environments), and scripting/automation. - Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and NIST CSF frameworks. - Willingness to mentor junior staff and participate in on-call rotations. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, implement, and optimize high-fidelity detection logic using MITRE-aligned frameworks and detection-as-code practices. - Develop integrations and automations for security workflows across platforms. - Mentor junior team members in threat analysis and data interpretation. - Support triage, incident analysis, and response activities, including after-hours on-call duties. **Required Skills:** - Expertise in security platforms (SIEM, endpoint detection, cloud environments). - Threat modeling and framework knowledge (MITRE ATT&CK, NIST CSF). - Scripting/automation experience (APIs, log/data engineering techniques). - Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills. **Required Education & Certifications:** - 2-year diploma in relevant field or higher (Master’s preferred). - Minimum 5 years cybersecurity experience (or 3 years with bachelor’s degree). - Certifications (e.g., GMON, GCDA, GCIA, MITRE ATT&CK Defender) considered an asset. - Public-sector or municipal security experience preferred. - Familiarity with threat feeds and intel enrichment APIs an asset.
