Job Description
Job Title: Category Manager Role Summary: Lead the strategic management of assigned product categories for a convenience retail chain. Drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction through data‑driven category plans, vendor partnership, pricing, assortment, and promotional execution. Expectations: - Achieve sales, margin, and inventory turnover targets for each category. - Maintain optimal product mix, pricing, and promotional activity. - Ensure on‑time supply and accurate forecasting. - Uphold merchandising standards and planogram compliance. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement category strategies aligned with corporate goals. - Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer insights to identify growth opportunities. - Manage product assortment, pricing, promotions, and in‑store placement. - Negotiate with vendors to secure favorable pricing, promotional support, and supply‑chain efficiency. - Collaborate with operations and marketing to launch merchandising plans and store‑level promotions. - Monitor category performance; adjust tactics to optimize results. - Oversee new item introductions, lifecycle management, and planogram compliance. - Work with replenishment teams to maintain product availability and forecast accuracy. - Stay informed on industry trends, competitors, and customer preferences in the convenience sector. Required Skills: - 3–5 years of progressive experience in category management, merchandising, or retail buying (convenience, grocery, or general retail). - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and negotiation abilities. - Proficiency with retail analytics tools, Excel, and inventory management systems. - Understanding of category roles (traffic driver, margin builder) and customer decision trees. - Preference for experience in the tobacco category. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience). ---
