Job Description: **Job Title** Machine Learning Intern **Role Summary** Conduct summer research on generative modeling of proteins to advance therapeutic discovery. Partner with a mentor to develop and implement novel machine learning methods, produce high‑quality code, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams across the biomedicines platform. **Expectations** - Complete a 3‑month research project focused on protein sequence/structure modeling. - Present work internally at a summer symposium. - Engage with wet‑lab and computational teams, attend educational sessions, and contribute to collaborative problem solving. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, implement, and evaluate generative models for protein sequences and structures. - Apply deep‑learning frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow) to develop models predicting biophysical or drug‑like properties. - Analyze high‑throughput functional data and integrate results into design pipelines. - Collaborate with mentors and team members to iterate on model architectures and software solutions. - Produce reproducible code, maintain documentation, and share findings through presentations and reports. **Required Skills** - Advanced programming in Python; experience with NumPy/Scipy, Pandas, or similar libraries. - Proficiency with deep‑learning libraries (PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow). - Strong statistical or machine‑learning background, including generative modeling or large‑language‑model workflows. - Ability to conceptualize, prototype, and test novel ML methodologies. - Familiarity with protein sequence or structure data (sequence alignment, structural representation, etc.) is a plus. - Experience developing agentic applications that combine LLMs with external tools (APIs, code execution) is a plus. **Required Education & Certifications** - Current PhD student (or equivalent) in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a closely related field. - No additional certifications required.
