Job Description
**Job Title** DevOps Engineer – Contract (Outside IR35) **Role Summary** Contractual AWS DevOps Engineer focused on expanding a financial‑services customer’s cloud platform. Deliver end‑to‑end infrastructure design, deployment automation, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) solutions. Work‑up‑to‑three months on‑site in London; balance on‑site collaboration with remote execution. **Expectations** - 6+ month contract at £650 per day. - 2–3 days per month on‑site, primarily in London. - Deliver measurable improvements to platform scalability, reliability, and security while meeting strict financial‑sector compliance. - Demonstrate strong stakeholder communication and timely issue resolution. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Design, build, and manage scalable AWS infrastructure (EKS, ECS, Lambda, VPC, IAM). 2. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar. 3. Automate infrastructure provisioning through Terraform or CloudFormation. 4. Provide monitoring and observability using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc., and drive performance tuning. 5. Collaborate with developers, architects, and ops teams to streamline delivery and enforce security best practices. 6. Maintain documentation, runbooks, and incident post‑mortems. **Required Skills** - Hands‑on AWS experience (EKS, ECS, Lambda, VPC, IAM). - Strong IaC expertise with Terraform or CloudFormation. - Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI). - Containerisation experience (Docker, Kubernetes). - Knowledge of monitoring/logging (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK). - Solid understanding of cloud security controls and compliance. **Desirable Skills** - Multi‑cloud or hybrid‑cloud exposure. - Configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef). - Scripting in Python, Bash, or Go. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. - AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or equivalent preference. - DevOps‑related certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) strongly desired.
