Job Description
**Job Title:** Position of Added Responsibility – Minor – Canadian and World Studies and Humanities (no teaching assignment) **Role Summary:** Internal role providing added responsibility and leadership within the Canadian and World Studies and Humanities department. Supports curriculum implementation, staff development, and departmental administration without a classroom teaching load. **Expectations:** - Hold valid Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) accreditation. - Possess Intermediate or Senior qualification status. - Have a specialist qualification in at least one area of the department or obtain it within one school year. - Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills. - Complete required background checks and provide supporting documentation (cover letter, resume, performance appraisal, supervisor letter, references). **Key Responsibilities:** - Assist the department head in planning, coordinating, and evaluating curriculum and program initiatives. - Provide mentorship and professional support to teachers in Canadian and World Studies and Humanities. - Lead or contribute to the development of instructional resources and assessment tools. - Monitor compliance with provincial education standards and board policies. - Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and school-wide initiatives as a representative of the subject area. - Contribute to staff appraisal processes and continuous improvement efforts. **Required Skills:** - In‑depth knowledge of Canadian and World Studies and Humanities curricula. - Leadership and team‑building abilities. - Effective written and oral communication. - Analytical and problem‑solving skills for curriculum and policy matters. - Proficiency with educational technology and data management. - Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and support staff. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) accreditation. - Intermediate or Senior teaching qualification. - Specialist qualification in a relevant subject area (or willingness to obtain within one school year). - Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (pre‑employment).
