Job Description
**Job title** Economic Development Officer **Role Summary** Lead and manage the city’s business incubator and enterprise village. Drive the evaluation of new entrepreneurs, administer financial and administrative operations, and oversee the performance of the site. Partner with local and national networks to promote entrepreneurship and innovation, support economic strategy and public policy development, and coordinate economic events and communication. **Expectations** - Full‑time position based at the incubator and enterprise village. - Availability to travel within the local area as required. **Key Responsibilities** - Screen and approve applications for admission to the incubator and enterprise village. - Advise the economic development director on case files and strategic recommendations. - Monitor performance metrics, compile annual reports, and present findings to senior management. - Manage administrative and financial affairs of the incubator and enterprise village, reporting to the workforce director. - Lead and supervise a small team of staff. - Coordinate site technical management and project implementation in collaboration with municipal services. - Identify and engage experts to support resident entrepreneurs and innovation projects. - Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of entrepreneurship programs and national incubation networks. - Disseminate service updates and news to the communications department. - Collect, clean, and analyze local socio‑economic data to inform economic strategy. - Assist in developing and implementing public policies for economic development, business support, and innovation zones. - Organize economic forums, workshops, and networking events. **Required Skills** - Proven experience in business creation, startup support, or SME development. - Understanding of funding mechanisms, financing instruments, and governmental support schemes. - Knowledge of legal, administrative, and financial aspects of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. - Strong analytical skills; ability to work with data and produce reports. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Leadership and team‑management ability. - Ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders and departments. **Required Education & Certifications** - Master’s degree in Business Management, Economic Development, Regional Planning, or a related field. - Relevant certifications in entrepreneurship support or business consultancy are a plus.
