Job Description
Job title: Scientific Officer Role Summary: Conducts aseptic sample processing, equipment calibration, environmental monitoring, and quality management in a clean‑room laboratory focused on stem cell and genomic biobanking. Ensures data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement through SOP adherence and EQA participation. Expectations: * Operate within a 37.5‑hour week, 8 a.m.‑4 p.m., Monday‑Friday schedule. * Maintain meticulous records, report faults, and manage consumables. * Perform routine and post‑thaw quality controls, serology, PCR, and flow cytometry. * Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager and team to uphold safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: * Aseptic processing of cord blood, cord tissue, and tooth samples in a clean room. * Conduct donor blood serology, PCR testing, and ABO typing. * Perform flow cytometry analysis and post‑thaw QC for cord tissue and dental pulp. * Execute environmental monitoring, incubate plates, and record results. * Calibrate and monitor laboratory equipment, report faults, and perform routine maintenance. * Replenish consumables and track stock levels. * Participate in External Qualification Programs (EQA) for flow cytometry, microbiology, serology, PCR, and blood analysis. * Uphold the Quality Management System: understand and apply SOPs, Qpulse policies, and regulatory requirements. * Raise deviations, investigate, and update SOPs through change control procedures. Required Skills: * Strong written and verbal communication. * Excellent computer literacy (laboratory information systems, Qpulse). * Attention to detail and meticulous record‑keeping. * Ability to follow SOPs, work independently, and collaborate within a team. * Problem‑solving skills for equipment troubleshooting and quality issue resolution. Required Education & Certifications: * Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or equivalent). * Minimum of two years of equivalent laboratory experience. * Certification in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) or related quality systems is desirable.
