Job Description
**Job Title:** Senior Embedded Software Engineer **Role Summary:** Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for modern aircraft avionics, updating legacy code, creating software requirements, and executing hardware‑software integration. Work independently and collaboratively to deliver DO‑178C compliant solutions while supporting the need for a U.S. Secret security clearance. **Expectations:** - U.S. citizen able to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance. - Minimum 5 years of relevant experience; BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. - Deliver high‑quality, safety‑critical code on schedule. - Demonstrate strong problem‑solving, communication, and attention‑to‑detail. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop and maintain embedded C (and optional assembly) code for bare‑metal and RTOS environments. - Create and configure embedded Linux images and hardware device drivers. - Design, implement, and test bootloaders (first and second stage). - Integrate and validate hardware interfaces (PCIe, SPI, I2C, UART/RS‑232, VME BUS). - Model software designs using Cameo and produce clear requirements documentation. - Perform unit, integration, and system testing; debug using standard tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, software debuggers). - Ensure compliance with DO‑178C airworthiness standards throughout the development lifecycle. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and provide technical guidance to junior engineers. **Required Skills:** - Proficient in C; familiarity with assembly language. - Experience with bare‑metal development and RTOS (VxWorks 5+, POSIX API, RedHawk, Green Hills). - Strong knowledge of processor architectures (ARM Cortex, PowerPC, x86). - Hands‑on with hardware communication protocols: PCIe, SPI, I2C, UART/RS‑232, VME. - Embedded Linux image creation and configuration. - Device driver development and bootloader programming. - Debugging and testing expertise; use of common hardware/software debug tools. - Ability to model software using Cameo (or similar). - Excellent verbal and written communication; effective teamwork. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - No specific certifications required. - Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship mandatory).
